Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how FreeScan.app ("FreeScan," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit FreeScan.app, submit a website for an audit, create an account, or subscribe to FreeScan Pro.
FreeScan audits publicly reachable website content. A free audit may be published in FreeScan's public audit directory. Reports created through an authenticated Pro workspace are private to that account and are not added to the public directory.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use FreeScan, we may collect:
- Account information: your name, email address, profile image, authentication identifiers, and account session information. If you sign in with Google, Google provides this basic profile information with your permission.
- Website and audit information: URLs and domains you submit, publicly available page content and metadata, response headers, crawl results, scores, findings, report history, and your attestation that you are authorized to monitor a Pro domain.
- Pro settings: monitored websites, scan schedules, report-email preferences, report recipients, public-status settings, uptime-check history, and badge or widget configuration.
- Billing information: customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, billing period, and cancellation status. Our payment processor handles payment-card and other payment details; FreeScan does not store full card numbers.
- Usage and device information: page views, interactions, referral information, browser and device details, approximate location derived from IP address, IP address or a related abuse-prevention identifier, and diagnostic data.
- Communications: report-email delivery status and information you submit through feedback or support channels.
How we use information
- Provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve FreeScan and FreeScan Pro.
- Fetch publicly accessible pages, generate audits, store report history, and display public or private reports as applicable.
- Authenticate accounts and maintain sessions.
- Process subscriptions, provide billing management, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Schedule weekly Pro scans, perform enabled uptime checks, publish status information you choose to make public, and send requested audit reports or downtime alerts.
- Understand product usage, measure feature performance, and communicate service or policy updates.
- Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect users, FreeScan, and others.
Public and private reports
Free audits are intended for public webpages. Their submitted URL, domain, audit scores, findings, and report may be publicly accessible, indexed by search engines, and shown in the public audit directory. Do not submit confidential information or a URL you do not want associated with a public report.
Pro reports are stored for the authenticated account and are not intentionally published in the public audit directory. FreeScan personnel and service providers may access them when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or support the service, comply with law, or respond to an account owner's request.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
FreeScan uses cookies or similar browser storage to keep users signed in, remember interface preferences, retain recent free scans on a device, protect the service, and understand product usage. Our analytics tools measure information such as page views and feature interactions. Authenticated analytics may be associated with a FreeScan user ID.
You can limit cookies through your browser settings, but blocking necessary storage may prevent account, theme, or other features from working correctly.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:
- Authentication providers, including Google when you choose Google Sign-In.
- Payment providers for subscription checkout, billing, fraud prevention, and account management.
- Email-delivery providers to send Pro reports and service emails and track delivery status.
- Analytics providers to understand product usage and improve the Service.
- Hosting, storage, security, and infrastructure providers that help operate and protect the Service.
- Feedback providers when you choose to interact with an embedded feedback tool.
We may also disclose information to professional advisers, a successor in a merger or sale, or government authorities and other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and the service.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain audit history, satisfy legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. Public free reports may remain available after the original visitor leaves. Pro report history may remain associated with the account until it is deleted or retention is no longer necessary.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including access controls and encrypted connections. No online system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can update Pro scan and email settings from your dashboard, manage or cancel billing through the customer billing portal, sign out to end the active browser session, and use browser controls for cookies and local storage.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or an objection to certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
International use and children
FreeScan and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your location.
FreeScan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as FreeScan changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email.
