Cookies Policy

FreeScan uses cookies and similar technologies such as local storage to operate account features, protect the service, remember choices, retain useful browser state, and understand how the product is used. A cookie is a small piece of data stored by a website in your browser. Similar storage can keep information directly on your device.

Necessary storage supports core product functions, including:

• Creating and maintaining a secure authenticated session.
• Completing sign-in and account-confirmation flows.
• Protecting FreeScan and its users from fraud, abuse, and unsafe requests.
• Maintaining the state needed to complete requested account and billing actions.

Blocking this category can prevent sign-in and other account features from working correctly.

FreeScan may remember theme choices, interface state, recent free scans, and other preferences so the product behaves consistently between page loads and visits. Removing this storage can reset those preferences without deleting information held in an authenticated account.

Before you make a choice, FreeScan uses PostHog in cookieless mode for limited audience measurement. This mode does not use cookies, local storage, session storage, persistent identifiers, session recordings, surveys, automatic interaction capture, or identified person profiles. PostHog generates a short-lived server-side identifier from request information and removes the source IP address before storing the event.

Selecting Reject stops client-side PostHog analytics. Selecting Accept enables persistent PostHog analytics that measure page views, referrals, feature interactions, product performance, errors, and broad device characteristics. Signed-in events may then be associated with a FreeScan account identifier. Accept also loads the BuildHop feedback widget. Your choice does not affect scans, accounts, billing, or Pro features.

Authentication, payment, embedded feedback, and other linked services may set or read their own cookies when you choose to use them or visit their pages. Those providers control their own storage and explain it in their respective privacy and cookie documentation.

Accept or reject optional usage tools from the banner. FreeScan stores that choice for up to 180 days. You can change it at any time from the Privacy choices control in the footer or account settings.

Most browsers also let you inspect, delete, or block cookies and site storage. Clearing necessary storage may sign you out, reset preferences, or remove locally retained recent scans.
